This and That

This is one of those random, odd and crazy posts - enjoy!

I never want to forget that this beautiful cabinet is currently our toy hutch.  :)  It works perfectly for holding all of the toys.  I do have cabinets on either side of the fireplace that would work great for this job and keep the clutter hidden when they toys are all put away but these shelves would then all sit empty because you know little hands would constantly be pulling my decorations and pretties off.  So for now it's a toy hutch.  And I don't hate it one little bit. :)

A few confessions:

I sometimes sneak the pool snacks when the boys aren't looking.  I won't let them have the pool snacks because they are for, duh, THE POOL! :)  They are individually portioned out packages (Nabisco, etc) so they work great for throwing in the pool bag. They also work great for grabbing really quick when no one's looking!

It drives me absolutely nuts when I leave a comment on a blog and the blogger doesn't reply.  Isn't it just a common courtesy to respond when someone reaches out to you?  Now I get why someone like Ree Drummond from The Pioneer Woman isn't responding - she gets hundreds of comments every day!  But those 'smaller' bloggers should consider taking a quick minute out of their day to reply.  If you leave me a comment and are not a 'no-reply blogger' you WILL hear back from me!

It drives me insane when people say "I love you to the moon and back."  INSANE I tell you!  A. It's overused.  B. That's *all* you love me??  How about to the moon and back and twice around the earth?  Or to Pluto and back?  Or to the edge of the universe?? I mean come on!  You're limiting how much, how far, you love your child/spouse/SO/parent??  Plus, isn't that something you'd say to a child, not an adult?  Sorry to offend but I hate that phrase.  Love that book, hate that phrase.

I feel incredibly guilty when I throw something away that can be recycled.  Remember back in the late 80's/early 90's when they preached 'Reduce, Reuse, Recycle'?  They obviously did their job when it came to me because even the plastic lid from Tenley's baby food container gets recycled.  If I get lazy and throw something in the trash that should be recycled it starts niggling at me and I finally have to go back and grab it out of the trash and take it to the recycling cart.

I'm already burning my Yankee Candle Pumpkin Spice candle.  I couldn't help myself! It smells so darn good and I am so ready for Fall!  It's burning right now as I type this and I am in heaven!

I've decided NOT to do the 21 Day Fix - it's too complicated and overwhelming for a first time dieter so I am going with Whole 30 instead.  I am starting this week and already have a few cheat days mapped out.  State Fair, BTS shopping with my mom and sister and the craft show at the beginning of September.  I've told Andy he is doing it with me so I won't have to sit and watch him eat normal while I am not.  I've also recruited my sister to join me so we'll have a support system.  Wish me luck!

I have a ton of books downloaded on my Kindle and can't find time to even read 1.  Oh, and I hate reading on my Kindle and miss the feel of a real book in my hand.  Only thing keeping me from going back to books is the small price to buy one for the Kindle.  I get emails when books I've marked as 'Want to Read' on Goodreads are for sale.  I haven't purchased a book for more than $3 in ages.  Every time one of those books is for sale I hurry up and buy it ... and then it just sits there.  I miss reading and will someday find the time to get back to it.

Lots of random babbling going on there!  If you made it to the end you deserve a prize! :)  Talk soon, friends!

  1. Good luck on the Whole 30! I need to start it myself. I have read both books. I have collected everything. I just need to start.

I have been having a hard time finding time to read. Since school started, things are soooooo rush rush. I have a ton of books sitting around waiting for me. I love the feel of a book in my hands. I don't have a kindle. Though I do have a couple of books downloaded on my Kindle phone app. I just can't get into it.

Also we don't say I love you to the moon and back. Lukas and I love to say I love you to the tippy tippy top. I don't know how it got that way, where it came from. We just start off with that and then try to top each other!

  2. My boss just did Whole 30 and rocked it. He went down a pant size. You can rock it. Maybe do the Whole 30 with 21Df exercises.

My entertainment center is just like your hutch. It doesn't bother me a bit and I will miss it when all the toys are gone.

I quit commenting on smaller blogs that don't comment back. I may miss a response here and there but for the most part I try my hardest, with 3 boys, a full time job and life, to respond... I love new friends!

I have a few book books piled up that I am dying to read but I just don't have a hot second. and

The I haven't heard the "moon and back" but my mom tells my boys "I love you more than the stars and the moon" and it drives me BONKERS! I normally walk away during their good-byes.

  3. You will miss the days of toys when you only have fancy nick-knacks hanging around . . . I already do.

Okay . . . thank you for talking about bloggers who don't comment back. And for reals people - fix your no reply blogger and stop responding on the actual comment - just use email like "normal" bloggers do for responses. And I don't care if you're a big time blogger or not . . . RESPOND. If you don't want to interact, then turn off the comment option and just write. Can you tell this one has been bugging me A LOT lately. Geez, pent up anger here apparently. Ha!

The Whole 30 is great, and I'm sure you will rock it. It's not easy, but it is doable! It's a nice reset!

And I have a recycle problem myself . . . I tell all the kids (and husband) that yes, in fact, we are saving the world one recyclable at a time! Just do it!!!

  4. We've used several different items as toy storage, and I don't mind it one bit either!
I totally tell my kids I love them to the moon and back. Twice. But maybe I need to expand that a bit more? LOL!
I know of several ladies who've done the Whole30 and really liked it. I'm excited to hear your thoughts on it.
While you're at the ISF PLEASE have a Dutch Letter for me.
